Usage
- mybackground <show>
This command gives you a set of questions to answer about your char. This lets guilds and event imms to help better your rp by better understanding your char. Also, if you forget something you have written, you can use the show option to see your own background.
List of Questions and Their Descriptions
What is the character's sex?
It sounds a simple questions and you were asked it at creation: Are you male or female. But really it's more then that. What has the character's sex affected of the characters life? In the Wheel of Time world, women usually stay at home and wear dresses but perhaps you are a female and do not? Often they run the scenes from behind, letting men think they are the ones doing it. Is this the case? Has a male character had women 'meddling' in his affairs? Is there resentment? What does he or she think of members of the opposite sex? How about the same sex?
What is the character's physical size?
The general stats for the race you have selected are below but does your character differ in any way? Is he or she thinner or heavier? Taller or shorter? How much so? How did this affect his or her lift growing up? (Hey kids are mean!) Or maybe they admired the character?
What is the character's hair, eyes, and skin?
Again, the norm is put below but maybe the character differs in some way. Are they eyes a special shape? How is the hair worn? Does this differ from fashion? Why?
What is the character's general appearance?
Is the character scruffy or well kept? Does he shave? Does she use make up and paints? Does HE? Dress stylishly or wear clothes twenty years out of fashion? Dress inauspiciously, flagrant or some other way? Is he or she clean?
Where was the character born?
This is more then just what nation or people the character is but how he was raised. A character from a ring fort in Tarabon will have a much different view of one raised under the Shadow of the Great Circle... And much differently from one raised in the Illuminators Chapter House. Was the neighborhood rich or poor? What were the people like? The characters friends growing up?
What is the character's age?
This is more then a pair of numbers stuck together.. Older characters have years of experiences that make them grow and shape... Did the Aiel war affect the character or his or her family? How about the Whitecloak Wars, called the troubles by the Children? Maybe the constant warring between Tear and Illian, Andor and Murandy or Tarabon and Arad Doman? What other events? Trolloc raids? Tarwin's Gap? How old was he or she for these things?
What was the character's family?
Was the character's family rich or poor? What did they do for a living? Did the mother stay at home? Did the father work as a guard or a soldier or was he a Lord? Did he cut wood? Was the mother a part time or full time maid or servant? Where is the family now? Are they alive? Dead? If dead what killed them? Violence? Old age? When in the characters life? How did this affect the other members of the family? Did father die in the fields, leaving a grieving mother who hated work? What about the characters siblings? Who are they?
Has the character begun his or her own family?
Does the character have children of his or her own? Is he or she married, betrothed or seeing someone? Where is this person or where are his or her children? Does the character have any pets? What sort?
Where or how was the character educated?
Did the character have a tutor growing up or did he or she learn from the local wise woman and his or her parents? Can the character read? Why or why not? Did he or she attend the school of hard knocks? How did he or she learn to fight? How did the character learn the skills he or she has?
What sort of jobs or livings has the character had?
Has the character had a job of work? What kinds? A farmer from the backwoods district of Andor? A wool merchant? A soldier? Did he or she serve on the militia in some small town? Serve at table at the Good Nights Ride in Murandy? Sing songs at Easing the Badger in Illian?
What are the character's political beliefs?
What does the character think of war? Specific wars? Is the war on Toman Head just? Why or why not? How about the Game of Houses? Does the character know when it's best to just duck his or her head and look the other way when the mighty tread? Even a minor lord or lady can cause trouble for the common. Does the character have his or her own plots?
What are the character's religious beliefs?
Does the character believe in the Creator? Does he or she even believe the Dark One exists ready to devour the wold? Maybe he or she worships the Father of Lies as the Great Lord of the Dark? Are Trollocs and Fades tales to scare children or are they as real as the sun? What about the Pattern, and the Wheel of Time itself?
What are the character's morals?
Will the character kill another human being? Has he or she ever killed before? When and why? What are acceptable reasons to justify killing? What about other ethics, such as sexual or personal? What is his or her idea of ettiquette or propriety?
What are the character's long term goals?
Does the character wish to rule a house or nation? Maybe rid his small town of some mennace? Attain wealth and Power, or get more of it? Make his family or house stronger? Fame? Honor? Win a war?
Why is the character at where they are now?
Is the character looking for a thief who stole something from him or her, taking her to Caemlyn? Why is an Aiel on this side of the Dragonwall .. Or is he? Is the character following a set pattern like a merchants trade route or is he or she a wanderer? Has the character always been where he or she is?
What is the characters personality?
Is the character Pessimistic? Optimistic? Idealistic? Radical? Conservative? Resigned? Easy-going? Depressed? Militant? Aloof? Intense? Bombastic? Obsessive? Superstitious? Extraverted? Introverted? Ambivelant? Rational? Opinionated? Passionate? Questioning?
What sort of qualities or anti-qualities does the character posess?
Is the character good at math? How is he or she with money? Does the character have a hole in his or her pockets? Can he plan ahead and make real goals? Can the character get close to people or does the character have walls? How is the character at business? Prioritizing tasks?
What does the character hate?
Does the character hate Shadowspawn? Members of the opposite sex? Lords or Ladies? Common people? Soldiers? Wars? Spiders! ICK! His or her family? Certain people? Sentimentality? Society? Darkfriends?
What does the character love?
Does the character love his or her family? A certain person? Quiet times? Reading? Walks by his or her self? The view from high places? The wind? The rain? Soldiers or men in uniform? The water? The sea?
What is the characters name?
Did the character choose his name? Is it a nickname? What does he or she call themselves? What name was the character born with? What does he or she think of it? Who gave it to them and why?
